Tonky Honk Music was born in early 2020 for the love of country and to share his work!
Mike Self is the lead of Tonky Honk Music. Mike gets his inspiration from old “outlaw” country and modern hits.
The Tonky Honk Story
I started playing guitar at 20 years old. I played mainly country music which was my favorite at the time and still is today. I played in numerous bands in my early years as a guitarist at various locations around Arizona.
I left the band scene after 2 years, as there are always challenges in keeping bands. I started playing solo just for my own enjoyment and jamming with other musicians from time to time just to jam.
My vocal background comes from the choir. I sang in the choir, and solo performances for the church. I am a self-taught musician and learning to play completely by ear. I still love playing music more than ever today. You will likely find me playing old country with the occasion new music, and some surprises.
